About us
Boozhoo, Hello. My name is Sabrina Houle-Schlup. I am an Anishinaabe woman from Ebb & Flow FN, Mb, and together with my husband, Thomas Schlup (Swiss), we founded Anpo Natural Tannery & Bison Ranch over 20 years ago. We have two children, Tashina and Cheyenne, who we raised to have a connection to the land and animals, as well as their Indigenous traditions and culture.
At Anpo Natural Tannery & Bison Ranch, my family and I operate with traditional beliefs with respect to our animals, land and products. We raise our bison on a vast area of grasslands and provide them with the right amount of minerals for extra nutrients.
We take pride in preserving our land for sustainable management and development for our bison for many years to come. We offer many different healthy, naturally grown bison products for health cautious people.
We tan our hides as our ancestors did historically. To ensure we tan with old-time methods, we wash each hide with natural soap. Moreover, each item and hide we produce is done by hand; absolutely no machines or chemicals are used in the process. We sew any bullet holes and knife cuts with bison, deer, or elk sinew. All our hides are smoked unless they are to be used as wedding dresses, as coats, or as shirts.
Our family specializes in the Indigenous peoples' ancient art of quillwork & beadwork. We have 25 years of experience making these beautiful old-time, museum-quality products from the buffalo days.
We are grateful for the connections we have made with customers and visitors over the years and are looking forward to meeting new people in the years to come.
Miigwech, Thank you.
